The European Union and Libya have lifted visa bans on each other's citizens. Spain which holds the EU Presidency said the names of Libyans had been removed from a list barring them from the 25 State Schengen visa free areas. The Libyans responded by dropping a reciprocal retaliatory measure. The tit for tat measures were imposed because of a diplomatic row between Libya and Switzerland which is outside the EU but belongs to its borderless travel zone.
