The European Union foreign ministers have agreed that Iran's stance on its nuclear programme requires a clear response including new appropriate measures. A statement issued at the end of the meeting in Brussels expressed concern over Iran's persistent failure to meet its international obligations and lack of interest in pursuing negotiations on the issue. Meanwhile, Iran has accused the United States of abducting its nuclear scientist. Addressing a news conference in Tehran, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Motattaki said the available evidence suggests abduction of Iranian nuclear scientist, Shahram Amiri by the United States during pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia in June last.
