EU expresses concern over deadlock in Nepal over drafting of new constitution

The European Union on Thursday expressed serious concern over the delay in Nepal's peace process and the deadlock among the political parties over the drafting of a new constitution for the country. <br/>A visiting European Union delegation, which arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday on a two-day visit, today met top leaders including Prime Minister Madav Kumar Nepal, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda and UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and asked the leaders to end the political deadlock so as to take the constitution drafting and the peace process to its logical end by forging consensus among the parties.<br/>The EU team underlined the need for the parties to work together and end the political deadlock.
