Ethnic clashes leave two dead in PNG

In Papua New Guinea, two days of clashes between different ethnic groups have left two people dead and hundreds homeless.<br/><br/>Long-running tension between locals and settlers in Bulolo in Morobe province flared into violence on Monday following the robbery of a trade store. <br/><br/>Reports said about 5,000 people went on a rampage burning the settlers' homes and gardens. Police Superintendent Peter Guinness said at least 200 homes were destroyed and two people were killed. <br/><br/>He said with the arrival of police reinforcements, the situation is calm but tense today as the local MP tries to negotiate for a peaceful settlement to the issue.
