Ethiopian Birhanu Legese, Kenyan Cynthia Limo win Delhi Half Marathon

Ethiopian Birhanu Legese and Kenyan Cynthia Limo won the Delhi Half Marathon on Sunday.In mens categorie Legese clocked 59.20 minutes to claim the first spot while Mosinet Geremew finished a second.World record holder in half marathon Eritrea's Zersenay Tadese finished third in 59.24 minutes.It was the first time in the year that six men athletes completed the half marathon inside 60 minutes. In the women's category Cynthia win race in an hour, eight minutes and 35 seconds.She was a fraction of a second ahead of World Championships marathon silver medallist Helah Kiprop.Gladys Chesir claimed the third spot in an hour, eight minutes and 36 seconds. Among the Indian runners Nitendra Singh Rawat and Lalita Babar topped in the men's and women's category.Rawat produced a time of 1:04:41. Gopi T took second and Mohd Yunus third positions.Lalita raced to the finishing line in 1:10:52. National record holder in marathon O P Jaisha came on second and Sudha Singh on third.Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia felicitated the winners. Around 34,000 athletes and amateur runners from different parts of the world and people of all age groups participated with enthusiasm in the eighth edition of the marathon.
