Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman has said that there are a lot of opportunities for expansion of bilateral trade between India and Sri Lanka and the proposed Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) between the two countries is an attempt to facilitate it. Addressing a press conference in Colombo today during her visit to Sri Lanka, the minister tried to assuage fears among some section of Sri Lankans on the proposed agreement, saying it will be based on mutual trust and all issues will be sorted out without putting pressure on timeline for finalizing it.
