Erstwhile UPA Government did not spend the entire allocated budget for MNREGA: Anurag Thakur

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur today said, the erstwhile UPA Government did not spend the entire allocated budget for MNREGA. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, he said that the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated more than one lakh crore rupees during the pandemic for the scheme. Mr Thakur told the house that workers under the scheme are now paid at the press of a button owing to the Jan Dhan Scheme.<br />''<br />''Mr Thakur said, the government now at the Centre started geotagging and worked on this. Union Minister Giriraj Singh told the Lok Sabha that MNREGA allocation rose from 33,000 crore rupees in 2013-14 to one lakh crore and subsequently 1.12 lakh crore during Prime Minister Modi's regime. Mr. Singh also said, there was incomplete utilization of the allocated budget of the MNREGA during the UPA rule. Congress Members raised objections to the reply of Union Ministers.<br />
