<span style="color: #222222;">Assam Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta has said that longstanding demand of the state to include land erosion in the admissible list of calamities for funding under the National or State Disaster Relief Fund is likely to be fulfilled by the 15th Finance Commission. <br />''<br />''Informing this in the Assembly, Mr Mahanta said the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had raised the matter with Chairman of the 15th Finance Commission, NK Singh.<br />''<br />''While funds are allotted under the NDRF and SDRF for flood mitigation, the problem of erosion, which is closely related to the annual floods, is not included for receiving these funds. <br />''<br />''Mr Mahanta said the Chief Minister has also urged the Prime Minister for Central assistance for construction of road-cum-embankments in the state, which will serve the dual purpose of strengthening of the embankments as well as improving road communication. <br />''<br />''He said a detailed report on converting the embankments along the Brahmaputra river as road-cum-embankments was submitted to the Centre last year.</span><br />
