Envoy says, Afghan run-off election is likely

Afghanistan is likely to hold a runoff election after a first round vote marred by allegations of irregularities. Afghan ambassador to the United States, Saed Tayeb Jawad became the first close aide to President Hamid Karzai to state publicly that Afghanistan is preparing for a second round. He however added that he had no direct knowledge from election authorities. Mr. Jawad said that the next round of the election should be held quickly, charging that a prolonged delay could create headaches for nations, including the United States, that are weighing whether to send more troops to Afghanistan.<br/>
