Environment Ministry has recommended demolition of controversial Adarsh Housing Society building in Mumbai. Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh in his final order on the society said, the building violated the spirit of Coastal Regulation Zone norms. He said, it is immaterial whether the Adarsh Society was aware of requirement to seek clearance under Coastal Regulation Zone rules. The minister said ignorance of law can never be an excuse for non-compliance.
