The Environment Ministry today issued a showcause notice to the Kerala Cricket Association for allegedly felling mangroves in violation of green rules in Kochi for constructing an international cricket stadium. The Ministry in its notice said the Kerala Cricket Association violated environmental rules by destroying mangroves in Coastal Regulation Zone area at a site acquired at Parambimoola near Edakochi of Ernakulam district for construction of the stadium.The Ministry asked the the Chairman of the Kerala State Coastal Zone Management Authority to submit an action taken report within 15 days and to take appropriate action on the issue.
