The entire North India continued to remain in the grip of severe cold wave today, with 23 more people succumbing to the chill in various parts of the region.
Delhi shivered at season's lowest of minimum 1.9 degrees, five notches below normal. A Met office forecast, the city is likely to wake up to a foggy morning tomorrow.
In Uttar Pradesh, 15 more persons died due to intense cold conditions, taking the toll in the state this winter to 155.
Muzaffarnagar continued to remain the coldest place in the state, recording a low of 0.2 degrees. Met officials said cold wave conditions will continue to prevail in the state during the next 48 hours.
At least six persons succumbed to the chill in Punjab and Haryana, where normal life remained affected due to biting cold and thick fog cover. Hisar recorded an all-time low of minus 1.1 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal, whereas in Narnaul mercury went down to freezing point. Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a low of 3 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
