Entertainment Industry lawyers express need to create awareness amongst filmmakers

Entertainment Industry lawyers have expressed need to create an awareness amongst filmmakers to get insured their projects so that they can handle the legal expenses in case of any intellectual property right dispute.

Participating in a discussion on ‘your rights and copyrights’ at the 43rd International Film Festival of India in Panaji, Goa today they felt that in the era of Globalization, an Independent arbitration Centre is needed for the Indian film industry.

Eminent lawyers Jamshed Mistry and Sameera Madhok, Insurance expert Manek Dastur , Film maker Brahamand Singh and Producer Vinecent Corda agreed on the point that the film industry has graduated from amateur business to full-fledged industry which requires strong legal protection.

Though there are stringent laws Piracy is world phenomena. Proper implementation of anti piracy law is lacking, they felt. Meanwhile, the last week of film festival began from today.

In this week Danny Boyle’s academy award film Slumdog Millionaire is scheduled apart from special tribute to Girish Kasarvalli, and continuing the celebrations of 100 years of Indian cinema besides world cinema.
