The Election Commission has asked internet companies to ensure that any unlawful content regarding elections posted on their websites is removed at the earliest.

In a letter to the Internet and Mobile Association of India, the Commission has asked them to ensure that the advertisement or content on the Internet during elections, strictly comply with the Commission’s guidelines.

It also told the Association to ask all political parties and candidates that their advertisements on the Internet must conform to the Model Code of Conduct.
