Ensure every farmer gets Kisan Credit Card: Pranab to PSBs<br/>

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today asked the Public Sector banks to pay special attentiion to ensure that every farmer household gets a Kisan Credit Card. He also emphasised that existing accounts should be quickly replaced by Debit Cards under the new scheme. Talking to media persons after holding a review meeting with Chief Executive Officers of the Public Sector Banks, financial instituitions, Mr.Mukherjee said, implementation of education loan scheme and the new scheme of educational loan for vocational courses will also be given priority. Reacting to the IIP data released today, Mr.Mukherjee said that this is against the expectation and Government is taking several measures to kick start the economy. Steps are also being taken to ensure faster project clearances attracting new investments, fiscal management and regular tariff revisions are also a high priority apart from achieving the agricultural credit growth. Mr.Mukherjee said, Banks are pro-actively addressing non-performance assets issues and the payment structure is being made at par with global standards. Finance minister said there is a need to look at cutting subsidies to revive the economy
