The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed all police and transport authorities to ensure vehicles without insurance do not ply on roads and if caught doing so, prosecute the driver or owner of such vehicles. It further directed all district police chiefs to ensure that Accident Information Reports along with other details reach the concerned Motor Vehicle Tribunals within 30 days to enable insurance company to grant claim forthwith.? Hearing a matter related with non-compliance of apex court directives benefitting road accident victims and their dependents, justice SK Saxena also summoned the Director General of Police on August 20 to show cause why directives had not been complied with so far. The court was not satisfied with the affidavit of DGP Jag Mohan Yadav which stated that directions for compliance of the directives had been sent to zonal IGs in March 5, 2010 and again reminder was sent on July 21.
