Enhancing Road Safety: High-Tech Night Vision CCTV Cameras Installed Along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44)

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Traffic police authorities along the Udhampur-Banihal stretch of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) have installed high-end Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras equipped with night vision capabilities. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations so that they can give a view of at least 3-4 kilometers. The cameras are installed at those points which witness the traffic congestion and with the help of these cameras, the field agencies will get to know where exactly they have to reach to address any issue arising due to traffic jams, accidents or breaking down of any vehicle. The points include Dalwas, Mehar, Jakhani Chowk and other places. SSP for Traffic, National Highway Ramban, Rohit Baskotra highlighted the significance of camera installation, saying it will ensure enforcement and regulation. The functioning of the cameras will be monitored by the traffic control room, Ramban. The cameras are strategically positioned at multiple locations along the particular stretch to facilitate smoother traffic management and address congestion effectively. The cameras will also address hit-and-run cases and serve as a valuable tool for tracking down vehicles involved in such incidents. Currently, 10 cameras have been installed, with plans to add more soon. The initiative signifies a proactive approach by the authorities towards leveraging technology for ensuring safer and more efficient travel experiences along the Udhampur-Banihal stretch of the strategic National Highway.
