Enhancing production and productivity is high on the agenda of the meeting of the core group of chief ministers (CGoCM) is now in progress at the Prime Minister's residence. Stringent action against hoarders and black marketers and bridging the gap between the demand and supply are some other important issues under discussion in the meeting. <br/><br/>The core committee comprising Chief Ministers of 10 major states and senior Cabinet ministers to monitor the price situation and suggest corrective measures was set up in February this year after the Chief Ministers' Conference on the issue. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday, while reacting to the Jail Bharo Andolan by the Left parties, said that this problem cannot be solved by agitational tactics .<br/><br/>AIR correspondent adds that terms of reference of the core group include development of strategy to raise agriculture production, better implementation of the Essential Commodities Act and ensuring effective delivery of foodgrains to poor. The government has taken a series of measures to address the growing food inflation and it is expected to ease with the prospects of a good rabi season.<br/>
