On Day 2 of the third cricket test at Kolkata, England were 121 for no loss in the first innings against India, at tea. Skipper Alistair Cook on 80 and Nick Compton on 41 were at the crease. Earlier, India resumed their first innings play at the overnight score of 273 for 7 and were bundled out for 316 in the opening session of the play. For the hosts, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar top scored with 76. Gautam Gambhir made 60. Left arm spinner Monty Panesar was the pick of the English bowlers. He bagged 4 wickets, while paceman James Anderson took 3. At lunch, England were 22 for no loss. The 4-match series is currently tied at 1-1. India had won the first test by 9 wickets at Ahmedabad, while in the second test at Mumbai, England emerged victorious by beating the hosts by 10 wickets.
