In a crucial Group-1 match played at Delhi last night, they defeated Sri Lanka by 10 runs to register their third win from 4 games. Sent in to bat, England posted 171 for 4 thanks to a 39-ball 74-run stand between Jos Buttler and Eion Morgan. Buttler made an unbeaten 66 off 37 balls. In reply, skipper Angelo Mathews' battling 54-ball 73 not out was not enough as Sri Lanka could only make 161 for 8 in the stipulated 20 overs. Pacer Chris Jordan bagged 4 wickets. Buttler was adjudged man of the match.With the win, England have joined the West Indies in the semi-finals from Group-1. From Group-2, only New Zealand have qualified so far, with the fourth semi-finalist set to be decided today when India take on Australia at Mohali at 7:30 PM. Both teams have 4 points each, with 2 wins from 3 games. West Indies will meet Afghanistan in the dead-rubber other match of the day which will be played in Nagpur at 3 PM. Meanwhile, in the Women's World T20, India will take on the West Indies in a do-or-die group game at Mohali at 3:30 PM today. If Indian eves win, they will have to hope that England beat Pakistan in the other match of the day. If Pakistan lose, it will be knocked out along with the West Indies, with India joining Group-2 toppers England in the last-4 by virtue of a better net run rate. New Zealand and Australia have sealed semi-final berths from Group-1.
