England beat South Africa by 72 runs in their first day/night One-Day International at Headingley last night. With the win, the hosts took a One-nil lead in the three-match series. Put in to bat, England made 339 for six in their 50 overs. Captain Eoin Morgan was the top scorer with a 107, while Moeen Ali remained unbeaten on 77. The two shared a stand of 117 after their team had slumped to 198 for five. Chasing a target of 340 for victory, South Africa were never in the hunt. They were bowled out for 267 in 45 overs. Hashim Amla was the top scorer with 73, while Faf du Plessis made 67.For England, paceman Chris Woakes took four wickets for 38 runs. The scores:England-339 for six in 50 overs.South Africa-267 all out in 45 overs. The second match will be played at Southampton on Saturday. The series, is a warm-up ahead of next week&apos;s Champions Trophy tournament in England and Wales.
