England beat India by six wickets under Duckworth-Lewis method in the fifth and final cricket One-Day International in Cardiff despite a brilliant knock of 107 runs by Virat Kohli. Dravid made 69 and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained not out at 50. Chasing a revised target of 241 in 34 overs the home team achieved the required runs for the loss of 4 wickets with ten balls to spare. For England Jonathan Trott made 63 while Alastair Cook 50 runs. Debutant Jonny Bairstow who made 41 was declared Man of the Match. The target was revised twice earlier as the start of the match was delayed due to rain. First it was revised to 295 in 47 overs and then to 270 for 40 overs. It was finally revised to 241 from 34 overs. Earlier put into bat, India made an impressive 304 for six on a batting friendly Sophia Gardens pitch. With this loss, India had to return home without any win in the disastrous tour. They were white washed in the four-match Test series, beaten in the only Twenty20 International before ending the tour by losing the five-match ODI series 0-3. With one of the worst ever performance, India will slip to fifth position the ICC ODI rankings while England will be a rung above.
