England 127/2 after first day against India

Hosts England will resume their first innings at the overnight score of 127 for 2 against India on the second day of the first Cricket Test at Lords in London today. Jonathan Trott on 58 and Kevin Peitersen on 22 were at the crease. Team India, who chose to bowl in overcast conditions, began this 2000th cricket Test in a devastating fashion. Indian seamer Zaheer Khan exploited the conditions to the fullest as he first trapped Alastair Cook leg before followed by the wicket of Skipper Andrew Strauss. With the other Indian bowlers failing to penetrate into the English batting line-up, it was only Zaheer, who found some rhythm on a rain-marred opening day. But to the luck of the Britons, Zaheer had to leave the field following a hamstring injury. He is now uncertain for the rest of the game. After Zaheer's departure, both Trott and Peitersen rose to the occasion helping England from 62 for 2 to 127 for 2.
