UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged for action to end violence against women. Speaking at a book launching ceremony in New York, the Secretary General lamented at the abuse of women rights and pleaded for combating the scourge. He noted that even with technological advances in today's modern world, women still die from easily preventable diseases.
