The European Union delegation has appealed to the political parties and Nepal government to end the deadlock in Parliament and draft the new constitution within the stipulated time frame. In a press statement issued at the end of their two-day visit to Nepal, the European Union Troika urged all political parties to overcome the current political impasse by making compromises that would result in the resumption of Parliament and forward movement on key peace process issues. The statement said a functioning Parliament is essential for democratic, and of particular importance and urgency in the case of Nepal. The six member European Union Troika delegation led by Klas Molin, Head of Department for Asia and the Pacific, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden met key political figures including Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist Chairman Prachanda.
