Agriculture experts have urged the government to address supply constraints by encouraging the private sector to set up storage facilities for farm produce. They have also pleaded for incentivising direct buying from farmers.<br/><br/>Talking to reporters after the pre budget meeting with Mr. Pranab Mukhejee, experts including Sharad Joshi and Chengal Reddy called for review of farm debt waiver scheme and rationalisation of fertiliser subsidy.<br/><br/>Chengal Reddy, who is Secreatry General of Consortium of Indian Farmers Association(CIFA), said he also asked for insentivising the mechanisation of agriculture through various programmes.<br/><br/>He added that a demand for exemption of excise and other taxes on agriculture and water conservation equipment, and removal of service and processing charges on farm loans was also made.<br/>
