In Jammu & Kashmir, one militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. An Army spokesman told AIR Correspondent that an operation was launched in the wee hours in Chapran Gujjarpatti area of Aragam on the basis of specific information about the presence of militants in the area. <br/><br/>As the security forces reached near the place of hiding of militants, the militants opened fire triggering encounter. In the ensuing encounter, one militant was killed. One weapon was also recovered. The identity of the slain militant was being ascertained.
