Encounter between Police & Maoists in Jharkhand ends; combing operation on to nab ultras

The encounter between the Police and the Maoists in Dumka district of Jharkhand has ended and the police have launched a massive combing operation to nab the ultras. AIR Ranchi correspondent reports that around 35 Maoists including six women cadres have been encircled by the police for a final assault. Five persons have been taken into custody for interrogation.Meanwhile, the officer-in-charge of Jama police station Saktanand Singh who died in the encounter was cremated with full state honours. The four policemen injured in the incident were brought to Ranchi for treatment. Earlier,Deputy Inspector General of Police B K Pandey informed that the encounter began early this morning and senior police officers have been rushed to Dumka.
