In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll due to encephalitis or brain fever has mounted to 268 this year as nine more patients succumbed to the virus-borne disease during past 48 hours. The dead include mostly children from eastern districts.AIR Gorakhpur correspondent quoting official sources says that this year, a total of 1377 patients of brain fever have been admitted to the BRD Medical College Hospital of which 109 have been tested positive for Japanese Encephalitis. As many as 261 patients are still undergoing treatment at BRD Medical College Hospital and government hospitals of adjoining districts.
