In UP, the death toll due to encephalitis or brain fever has mounted to 148 this year as seven more patients succumbed to the virus-borne disease during past 4 days. The dead include mostly children below 14 years of age. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent quoting official sources says that this year, a total of 891 patients of brain fever have been admitted to the BRD Medical College Hospital. As many as 170 patients are still undergoing treatment at BRD Medical College Hospital.
