Empowering backward sections part of good governance: CJI TS Thakur

Chief Justice of India TS Thakur has said that empowering backward and downtrodden sections of society is part of good governance.Our correspondent reports that Chief Justice was addressing a workshop organised by State Legal Services Authority in Raipur yesterday. <br/><br/>Chief Justice of India said tribal people should get the benefits of government schemes. He said the chief objective of National Legal Service Authority is to end discrimination between rich and poor, to make backward, weak and uneducated people aware of their rights and provide them necessary legal help for ensuring justice. He said tribal people are dwelling in various areas of the nation right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and constitute nearly 33 per cent population of Chhattisgarh. <br/><br/>Chief Justice said appointment of paralegal volunteers and panel lawyers should also be done from tribal communities so that they may create awareness among their communities regarding their rights in a better way.<br/><br/>Vikalp Shukla, AIR News, Raipur.<br/>Supreme Court Judge Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre , Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Deepak Gupta and Chief Minister Raman Singh were also present on the occasion.
