Government has constituted an empowered committee to monitor and minimise delays in granting approval for mineral concessions. Replying supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha on Monday the Mines Minister Mr. B.K. Handique informed the House that a model state mineral policy has been framed and sent to all states for finalising it.Mr. Handique informed that the delay in the clearance of proposals is mainly due to insufficient information and documents given by the States. He elaborated that Ministry also needs to consult specialised agencies including Indian Bureau of Mines and Department of Atomic Energy for Technical inputs before granting approval to the proposals.
