Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia today said organized sector employers should make it mandatory to take health insurance cover for employees. Mr Ahluwalia said it will help spread the reach of insurance products. Speaking at a conference in New Delhi, he said the government should give very serious consideration to make it mandatory for employers to get group insurance for their workers. He said, government's scheme of Rashtriya Sawasthya Bima Yojana provides free health insurance cover for medical treatment of up to 30,000 rupees to the people below poverty line.
