The condition of legendary singer-composer Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, admitted in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital is critical.

A couple of days back, Dr. Hazarika suffered kidney failure after which the doctors have put him on dialysis.

Speaking to AIR, the Hospital’s Media Incharge; Mr. Jayanta Narayan Saha, said that Bhupen Hazarika is responding well to the treatment.

Mr. Saha further informed that Dr. Hazarika’s breathing and his other parameters like pulse rate and heart rate are normal.

He added that the doctors are hopeful of getting a better response in the next couple of days. On a lighter note, Mr. Saha informed AIR that Bhupen Hazarika always broke into a smile or moved his eyelids on hearing his songs.

Bhupen Hazarika has been in hospital since 30th of June this year after he developed breathing difficulties.

On 8th September, he celebrated his 85th birthday in the hospital’s ICU ward.
