Noted historian Dr. Suhas Chattopadhyay passed away at Silchar in Assam yesterday. He was 78. Born at Pathakpara in West Bengal, he joined as a lecturer in history in Cachar College, Silchar after obtaining masters degree in history from Calcutta University. Later, he obtained a Ph.D. Degree from Gauhati University. He was a senior fellow of Indian council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.He had written many books – Making of Mizoram, Mizo chiefs and chiefdoms, Mizo Economy, Lushai Hills under British rule,Socio Economy History of South Assam.
