Eminent economists suggest to government on various issues during pre-budget consultations

Eminent economists have suggested to the government to bring changes in small savings rate and focus on increasing private and public investment. The economists made these suggestions before Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during the pre-budget consultations in New Delhi. Some of the members proposed that the government should not to go for aggressive fiscal consolidation and continue on public spending. Some others were of the view that higher growth can be achieved even by following the path of fiscal consolidation and the Government should not compromise in fiscal measures. Other suggestions include focus on poverty reduction measures, increasing female labour participation in the growing economy and development measures for Tribal community.
