Eminent modern Dogri Poet Padma Sachdev breathed her last in Mumbai this morning. She was the first modern woman poet of the Dogri language and had published several anthologies of poems, including ‘Meri Kavita Mere Geet’ which won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1971. <br />”<br />”The 81 year old poet has also received the Padma Shree, in 2001 for her contributions to Hindi and Dogri. Born in Jammu’s Purmandal locality in 1940, Sachdev worked in All India Radio, Jammu as an announcer since 1961 and she also served at AIR, Mumbai. Padma has written lyrics for various films including Prem Parbat, Aankhin Dekhi, and Saahas.<br />”<br />”<span style="color: #000000;">MOS in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh has expressed grief on the demise of Padma Sachdev and termed it a big loss to the Dogra literature world.</span><br />
