Eminent Assamese actress Bina Das Manna passed away at her Kumarpara residence in Guwahati last night. She was 76. Born in 1934 at Guwahati, she was among the most well-known actresses of the state and acted in about 27 films.<br/><br/>Sati Beula was her first film. Her other popolar films included – Piyali Phukan, Natun Prithivi, Chaknaiya, Puwati Nishar Sapun, Lachit Barphukan, Narakasur, Itu Situ Bohutu, Ganga Silanir Phaki, Amar Ghar, Bhakta Prahlad, Sakuntala aru Sankar Joseph Ali, Megha Mukti, Bohagar Duparia, Ajala Kakai, Ranganodi and Bhai Bhai, among others.<br/><br/> Her last recently released film was Mor Mone Tara. She was a regular artist with the All India Radio from 1952 to 1994 and acted, directed and produced nearly 1500 radio plays. A state government artist pensioner, Bina Das Manna was the recipient of a number of awards including the Bishnu Rabha Bota and the Aideo Handique Bota. <br/><br/>Assam Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi and drama and film lovers of the State have condoled the death of Bina Das Manna. In a message, the Chief Minister Mr. Gogoi said her death is an irrevocable loss towards the cultural field in Assam.<br/>
