Emergency meeting of CLP in Andhra this evening

In Andhra Pradesh, an emergency meeting of Congress Legislative Party, CLP, is being convened this evening to discuss party affairs. AICC general Secretary in charge state affairs Veerappa Moily and party senior leader Pranab Mukharjee are likely to attend the meeting. The Chief Minister has called for an emergency CLP meeting last evening with in hours after coming back from Delhi where he held discussions with party senior leaders including disciplinary action committee chairman A K Antony. The proposed meeting assumed significance especially when the Telugu TV channel owned by Kadapa Parliament Member Jaganmohan Reddy was becoming increasingly hostile towards the party high Command.Hectic political consultations are on in Hyderabad in view of the sudden developments in the Congress party. Chief Minister has been meeting senior party leaders including ministers since morning and likely to meet even State Governor E S L Narasimhan this afternoon. The MLAs are reaching the state capital from the districts as all the 156 MLAs and members of Council have been directed to attend the meeting without fail. Though the party functionaries are not disclosing the agenda of the meeting, the sources are stating that the meeting would seek reaffirmation of loyalty and support to AICC president Sonia Gandhi. The meeting is also presumed at being a show of unity and strength and also an effort to isolate the Kadapa MP. After the CLP meeting, the state leadership is expected to take action against those who are loyal to the Kadapa Parliament member including few Ministers who openly defied party instructions.
