Embassy of India at Kathmandu awarded Golden Jubilee Scholarships to meritorious students of Nepal today. The scheme was introduced in year 2002 to mark completion of 50 years of economic cooperation between India and Nepal. <br/><br/>Under this scheme 200 students pursuing medical, engineering and various undergraduate courses in Nepal being given scholarships. Medical and Engineering students given 4000/- Nepalese rupees per month and others gets 3000/- per month. <br/><br/>In addition to Golden Jubilee Scholarship, Govt of India also provides scholarships to 3000 Nepalese students to pursue higher studies in various disciplines in India and Nepal. Education Minister of Nepal Shri Dhaniram Poudel was the chief guest on the occasion. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shri Ranjit Rae, academicians and other dignitaries also graced the occasion.<br/><br/>There is an extensive and close relationship between India and Nepal in the field of human resources development. Over a period of time, the quantum of Indian assistance in the field of education has increased manifold, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Nepal abounds in highly qualified experts and specialist in strategic positions in Nepal's polity and economy, who have studied in India.
