A wild female elephant and its male calf went on a rampage in the heritage city of Mysore , early Wednesday morning, trampling to death a man, injured five persons, attacked cattle, damaged several vehicles and other properties. The forest officials could later catch both the elephants alive. Speaking to the media persons in Mysore , the forest minister C H Vijayshankar said that Chief Minister has announced a compensation of five lakh rupees to the diseased and free treatment to the injured. The forest Minister said that resorts built near forest area are booking tourists beyond their capacities thereby disturbing the natural habitats and corridors of the wild animals. He said action will be taken against such resorts which over book their facilities.
