Electronics Expo inaugurated in New Delhi

Government says that more than 50 crore people will be trained for skilled jobs by 2022. Inaugurating an Electronics Expo in New Delhi today Minister of state for Science and Technology, Mr Ashwani Kumar said that electronics hardware sector will play a significant role in employing this skilled manpower. He called for greater public private partnership in this sector. Mr Kumar also informed that the research results of Defence Research and development Organisation, DRDO and Council for Scientific and Industrial research, CSIR will be made available to the private sector to promote innovation. Mr Kumar emphasised on the need to increase domestic capacity in this sector. He said that increasing manufacture of electronics products within the country is necessary to bridge the gap between demand and supply. He elaborated that the demand and supply gap of electronics hardware is set to increase from 25 billion US Dollar in 2009 to 296 billion US Dollar in 2020. He also announced setting up of National Electronic Mission and a dedicated Electronic Development Fund to increase production of electronic hardware in the country.
