In Kerala, elections to the local self government institutions will be held on 23rd and 25th of next month. Announcing the dates of elections at Thiruvananthapuram state election commissioner P.Kamalkutty said that counting of votes and election results will be announced on 27th of next month. This will be the first Panchayat election in Kerala where women candidates are entitled for 50 percent reservation in Local Self-Government institutions. From Panchayats to Corporation levels, polling will be held in altogether 21,612 wards in Kerala. Model code of conduct has come into effect from today.
