The elections for the five municipal corporations in Maharashtra is on. The polling for Malegaon, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Latur, Chandrapur and Parbhani municipal corporations began at 7.30 on Sunday morning and will continue till 5.30 in the evening. AIR correspondent reports, intense heat and local functions are the causes of low voter’s turnout. He said that the figures are expected to rise in the evening. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the elections and no untoward incidents have been reported so far. Total of 2402 candidates are contesting for 371 seats in the five municipal corporations.
