Electioneering gains momentum for Meghalaya assembly elections

<span style="color: #222222;">In Meghalaya assembly elections, leaders of all political parties are trying to woo voters through election meetings, community gatherings and door to door campaigns. State level and local leaders of BJP, National People's Party (NPP), Indian National Congress, Trinmool Congress (TMC), United Democratic Party (UDP) are holding several public meetings. Electioneering has gained momentum in East and West Garo Hills region, while in other areas of Khasi and Jaintia Hills it is picking up pace. Polling will be held on 27th February for the 60-seat Meghalaya State Assembly.<br />''<br />'' AIR correspondent reports that state level leaders of BJP Alexander L Hek, Ernest Mawrie and Bernard Marak are holding small public meetings in their stronghold areas. BJP leader Alexander L Hek addressed a rally Pynthorumukhrah assembly segment. The BJP leader appealed people to vote for Double Engine government in the region which can work in unison with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.<br />'' <br />'' Senior NPP leader and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is holding meetings in Mahendraganj and Tura regions. Addressing a public meeting in Jirang Senior Trinmool Congress leader Derek O Brien said only TMC is alternative to NPP and BJP. Senior Congress party leader Vincent H Pala is addressing election meetings with the agenda of their five commitments to people which includes promises like powercut free and Unemployment free Meghalaya.<br />''<br />''Regional parties like United Democratic Party (UDP), Voice of the People's party (VPP) and HSPDP are also campaigning on the agenda of regional issues and corruption. </span><br />
