The seat fell vacant after Pradesh Congress Committee president Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned, after his election to Parliament. Uttam Kumar Reddy's wife and former MLA, Padmavathi Reddy is contesting from Congress. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The ruling TRS has fielded an NRI, Saidi Reddy. 2.36 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes. Counting of votes will take place on Thursday.</span>
