In Uttar Pradesh, the electioneering comes to an end this evening in 56 assembly constituencies of fourth phase areas. Polling will be held there on Sunday. As many as 966 candidates are in fray in this phase which comprises 11 districts of central UP including the state capital Lucknow. AIR Correspondent says that the political atmosphere was highly charged with top leaders trying to woo the voters making promises, allegations and counter allegations. Campaigning for the fifth and sixth phase is picking up pace. 49 constituencies will go to the polls in the fifth phase on the 23rd this month,while 68 constituencies will go for voting on the 28th. The nomination process for seventh phase of elections has been completed. As many as 105 candidates withdrew their candidature yesterday. The elections for 60 seats spread in 10 districts of Moradabad, Bareilly and Lucknow divisions will be held on 3rd March. Counting for all the phases will be held on 6th March. Meanwhile, the election commission has issued notice to the BSP state President and Party Candidate from Padrauna Swami Prasad Maurya for forcibly entering into a polling booth in his constituency on 11th February and manhandling security personnel there. The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Anita Meshram said in Lucknow yesterday that 31 FIRs have been registered in various cases of violation of Model Code of Conduct. The enforcement agencies recovered more than 3,000 litres of illicit liquor from different parts of the state.
