<span style="color: #222222;">The Election Commission has directed to remove Vivek Sahay from the post of Director Security of West Bengal and to place him under suspension immediately. The Commission met today to discuss reports submitted by State Chief Secretary and the joint report submitted by Special General Observer Ajay Nayak and Special Police Observer Vivek Dube on the incident at Nandigram leading to the injury to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">It said, the charges must be framed against Vivek Sahay within a week for grossly failing in discharge of his primary duty as Director Security to protect the Z protectee.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The commission said, a committee of Chief Secretary and DGP shall identify within next three days, the other proximate security personnel below Director Security, who failed in their duties to prevent the incident and protect the Z protectee VVIP. It also asked to take suitable action for their failure under intimation to the Commission by 5 PM next Wednesday. The commission said, Chief Secretary shall ensure that the investigation of the Nandigram incident&nbsp; is completed and consequential action is taken as per law in the next 15 days. The report in this regard shall be sent to the Commission by 31st of this month.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The poll body has directed that IAS officer Smita Pandey to be posted immediately as District Magistrate and District Election Officer of Purba Medinipur. The current DM and DEO Vibhu Goel will be transferred to a non-election post.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The commission also directed that SP of Purba Medinipur Pravin Prakash to be placed under suspension immediately and charges shall be framed against him for major failure of security.IPS officer Sunil Kumar Yadav will be posted immediately as SP of Purba Medinipur.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Election Commission has appointed Former DGP Intelligence Punjab, Anil Kumar Sharma as Special Police Observer for West Bengal Assembly polls. It has also decided to issue instructions separately to the CEOs of all poll bound states and UTs to bring it to the notice of all Political Parties or candidates, for strict compliance of the security of the star campaigners as per the category of protection and local threat assessment.</span><br />
