Election commission has cautioned political leaders on making remarks which may create disharmony between different sections of society saying, it will take stern action for any violation of model code of conduct.<br/><br/>The commission asserted that it will not remain a silent spectator if the provisions of election laws are violated. In a letter to all political parties, the commission appealed them to desist from making remarks on the basis of religion which may create disharmony. <br/><br/>Citing Supreme courts order in this regard, poll panel said, such remarks disturb the peace and tranquility of the society which is essential for free and peaceful election. <br/><br/>The commission's direction came in the backdrop of recent controversial remarks by BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj on population boom on which the poll body has already issued show cause notice to him.
