Election Commission bans exit polls till December 5

The Election Commission has imposed a ban on exit polls pertaining to the Himachal Pradesh and  Gujarat assembly elections as well as bypolls in five states. The ban will remain in force till 6:30 in the evening of 5th December. During the period, conducting any exit poll and publishing or publicizing their results by means of the print and electronic media and dissemination in any other manner will be prohibited. The Commission has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officers of concerned States in this regard.<br />''<br />''<br />

Election Commission bans exit polls till December 5

Election Commission has imposed a ban on conducting and publishing exit polls. The ban will remain in force till 5th December 6:30 P.M. The decision was taken in view of the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and bypolls in five states. The states where bypolls will be held are Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. The Election Commission further clarified that displaying any election matter, including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media, will be prohibited. The Commission has written a letter to all the Chief Electoral Officers of these State in this regard.
